Walking Safari

To experience the African Bush at is very best, is to take part in a walking safari.

The actual time spend on the walking safari is approximately three hours. However a lot of time will be spent quietly observing and discussing the wildlife with the guide. You will be walking at a leisurely pace. The guide will find the White Rhino for you and track as much large game as possible.

Cold water is supplied on the walk and there will be a stop with more refreshments in a suitable spot. Total time of activity approx. 4 to 4.5 hours the transfer vehicles are open 4×4’s.

An early start is necessary and therefore the pick-up will be early between 6.30 and 07.00 to avoid walking in the heat of the day. It is important to have easy walking shoes, hats and bush friendly attire.

Apart from your qualified guide an armed National Park Scout will accompany you on the walk.

The trip leaves from The David Livingstone Safari Lodge & Spa through the National Parks in Zimbabwe on one side and the Zambian Mosi O Tunya National Park. Several rapids need to be negotiated on the way up (depending on river conditions) and shallow basalt rock channels avoiding hippos and crocodiles. The jet boat ride to The Elephant Café is approximately 30 minutes one way.

A magnificent herd of rescue Elephants will welcome you for an unforgettable interaction with these gentle giants. You will enjoy an informative brief about this herd and their off spring by their long-time care takers.  Once the herd retires to forage in the bush, you are welcomed into The Elephant Café overlooking the Zambezi River for a unique dining experience. Road transfers are also available to the venue and advance reservations are essential.

 Low Water

The “Low Water” Rafting Season runs approximately from the middle of August to the middle of January, depending upon the water level/ rains each year. This can change as and when levels increase or decrease.  Our low water trips depart from directly below Victoria Falls in the Boiling Pot.  Note! At the end of the rafting trip, rafters are required to hike 200m out of the gorge, this can be challenging in the warmer months in the middle of the day. While you are not required to be an extreme athlete, the ability to do these 20-25 minute hikes is an indication of fitness levels required for this incredible river.

Victoria Falls Microlight Flights

Exhilarating Microlight flights offer breathtaking views of the Victoria Falls and the spectacular gorge that the Zambezi River has carved into the surrounding landscape over many thousands of years. This is an experience not to be missed… you may even feel like you have been kissed by an angel as you fly through the ‘smoke’ of the Falls.

Short Microlight flights of approximately 15-minutes, fly over the Zambezi River and circle the Victoria Falls, as well as a longer 30-minute flight which adds a low-level swoop over the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park to spot river wildlife and birds.

For safety reasons you may not take your own camera on the flight. Batoka Sky Productions have wing-mounted cameras operated by the pilot which capture high resolution photos and video footage of the spectacular Victoria Falls scenery. Providing great memories of this incredible experience, it is worth purchasing the photos and/ or the video footage after the flight at a cost of $20 for the Images, $30 for the Video Footage or $45 for both.
